Agents set up automatically on first run (Mac)

After you sign in to the Mac app with a new account, AgentSky adds the agents it finds on your Mac for you; otherwise you choose them yourself.

Updated October 22, 2026

On a new account, the Mac app adds the agents installed on your Mac automatically right after you sign in.

Starting with AgentSky for Mac 0.4.81, the second first-run step sets up local agents for you when your account has no agents yet and the app finds agents on this Mac (for example Claude Code or Codex). You see "Setting up your agents" with a spinner while it works:

  1. For an agent with an available, unconnected plan (Claude or ChatGPT), the app may ask you to connect that plan first. For Claude, paste the code from Claude into the field when asked.
  2. The app adds the agent to your account with the AgentSky skill.
  3. If you already gave AgentSky access to Files, it then imports your local setup. Without that access, nothing is imported.
  4. The app moves on to the next step.

When you choose manually: if your account already has agents, or no agents are found on this Mac, you see "Choose your agents" and pick them yourself, as before.

If adding an agent fails: the step shows the error and the "Choose your agents" choice. Agents that were already added are kept, so you only pick what is missing. If you close the step before the app finishes looking for agents, nothing is created.

Where: Mac app — first-run card, step 2, after sign-in.

Good to know: you can import more later from Settings › This Mac › Import sessions. Related: Sign in on Mac, Allow AgentSky the permissions it needs, Use your Claude or ChatGPT plan, Import chats and setup from a local agent.
