What is computer use?

Updated October 21, 2026

Computer use lets an agent see and control apps on your Mac — clicking, typing, and reading the screen just like a person would.

When you enable computer use, the agent can interact with any app you approve. It works in the background, so your keyboard and mouse remain free while the agent works.

Where: Mac app. Computer use is available in any chat once you grant the necessary macOS permissions.

Computer use is per-app: each time the agent wants to access a new app, a permission prompt appears and you choose the level of access. Press Esc at any time to stop the agent immediately.

Good to know: Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions are required before computer use can start. The quickest way to grant both is to click "Allow AgentSky" on the first launch. See Set up Mac permissions for computer use for manual setup.
