Let an agent act in your own Chrome tab

Lend the Chrome tab in front to an agent from the composer's + menu; it acts only in that tab and asks before each new site.

Updated October 29, 2026

"Use this Chrome tab" lends the tab you have open in Google Chrome to an agent. The agent acts only in that tab, asks before it acts on each site, and your sign-ins stay in Chrome.

  1. In the chat composer, open the + menu and choose Use this Chrome tab. It lends the tab in front in the Chrome window you used last. In a new chat it shows as a Your Chrome tab chip until the chat starts; it also works in a chat that is already running.
  2. A question asks "Let the agent act on https://… in your Chrome tab?" Choose Deny (the default), Allow once (for this task) or Always allow on this site.
  3. While the tab is lent, the chat shows a Your Chrome tab · <title> pill with Show (brings the tab forward) and Stop. Chrome shows its own "AgentSky started debugging this browser" bar and an "AI" badge.
  4. To end it, choose Stop on the pill, Cancel on Chrome's bar, or close the tab.

Where: Mac app › composer + menu. Sites you always allow are listed in Settings › This Mac › Computer use, each with Remove.

First-time setup

The first time, the app shows Add AgentSky to Chrome. Set up opens Chrome's Extensions page and shows the AgentSky extension folder: turn on Developer mode, choose Load unpacked and pick that folder, then choose Use this Chrome tab again. This is needed once; the extension is not in the Chrome Web Store yet. The extension reconnects to the app by itself when the app starts.

What the agent can and can't do

  • It can open pages, read the page, click, type, press keys, scroll and take screenshots, the same tools as the agent's browser window.
  • It stays in the one tab: opening, closing or switching to another tab is refused. If the tab moves to another site, you are asked again before the agent acts there. A link the agent clicks that leads to another site is caught on its next step, not stopped beforehand.
  • Chrome's own pages, such as chrome:// pages, can't be lent.
  • Cookies and site storage are never read or uploaded, and the tab is not used for browser logins from your Mac.

Good to know: Use this Chrome tab works with Google Chrome, Chrome Beta, Dev and Canary, Chrome for Testing and Chromium. For the Mac app's own browser window, see Browser logins on the Mac app; for control of other apps, see What is computer use?.
