**"This Mac" lends a folder on your Mac to a cloud agent: lending the folder is the permission, so the agent reads and changes its files without asking.**

Use this when you want an agent to work with local files — code, documents, or data — without uploading them first. The agent works on the live folder, so it always sees your latest files.

1. In the chat composer, click the folder chip and choose "This Mac".
2. Pick the folder you want to lend.
3. The agent works in the folder. Writes, moves and moving files to the Trash go ahead without a question.
4. When you are done, choose Remove next to it in Settings › This Mac › Live folders.

Where: Mac app › composer folder chip (labelled "Add folder").

Good to know: lend only a folder you are happy for the agent to change. A cloud agent can also start a local agent on your Mac; it starts without a question, and its commands do not ask either. To upload a copy instead, see [Copy a folder on your Mac to the cloud](https://agentsky.dev/help/clone-folder-to-cloud).
