# Fork a chat

> Open the chat menu (···) and choose Fork to continue the conversation with a different agent or model.

**Open the chat menu (···) and choose Fork to continue the conversation with a different agent or model.**

Forking creates a new chat pre-filled with the current conversation's text. You can change the agent, model, and thinking level before continuing. The original chat is unchanged.

1. Open the chat menu by clicking ··· on a chat in the rail, or right-clicking a message.
2. Choose Fork.
3. Pick the agent, model, and thinking level for the new chat.
4. Click Continue (or send a new message).

Where: Web and Mac: chat ··· menu › Fork, or message right-click menu.

Good to know: the fork copies visible text only — not uploaded files, agent history, or tool results. Switching agent in an open chat also offers a fork.
