To-dos in your documents

Updated October 25, 2026

Any Markdown document can hold to-dos: a checklist item is a to-do, and every to-do you can see is listed in Library › todos.

Add a checklist in the document editor (the checklist button in the toolbar), or type it: - [ ] Send the deck @sam 2026-11-01. An @name assigns it; @agent marks it for an agent; a date (YYYY-MM-DD) is its due date. Each item keeps a hidden id, so it is still the same to-do after you move or reword it.

Library › todos lists the to-dos assigned to you and the unassigned ones in your own documents; choose Everyone's to see all the to-dos in documents you can open, including ones shared in your workspaces. Filter by status, due date or document, and click a to-do to open its document.

Ticking a to-do in the list ticks it in its document: the document saves a new version, which you can see and restore in its version history. Deleting the item from the document removes the to-do.

Where: Library › todos (web and Mac). Agents can do the same through the API (GET /v1/library/todos, PATCH /v1/library/todos/{id}), the MCP tools list_todos and set_todo_done, and sky todos list, sky todos done.

Good to know: the list is read from the documents, so the documents are always the record. Markdown files on your Mac that are not saved to your Library are not listed yet. Related: What are artifacts?, Edit and export an artifact.
