Slack channel
Give your team an agent they can reach in Slack.
Connect Slack from an AgentSky agent's settings, authorize the app in your workspace, and send work through the connected channel. Choose the agent that answers in the dashboard.
A task, where your team works
Ask for a result your team can review.
Use a channel conversation to hand work to the selected agent. Include the context and acceptance criteria the task needs; connecting Slack does not grant access to every system mentioned in a message.
A useful first request
Ask: ‘Turn the requirements in this message into an implementation checklist. Call out missing decisions before making changes.’
Check the response
Confirm the reply comes back in the intended workspace and that it addresses the task. Review generated work before relying on it.
Keep access explicit
If the work needs a repository or another app, configure that access separately. The Slack channel is the conversation entry point.
Setup
Connect the workspace you mean to use.
You need an AgentSky account, an agent to connect, and permission to install the Slack app in the target workspace.
Open the agent's channel settings
Choose or create an agent in the developer console. Open its channel controls and select Add to Slack.
Review Slack authorization
Check the workspace and requested permissions on Slack's authorization screen. If installation needs administrator approval, complete that process before continuing.
Open the returned channel
Finish setup in Slack, then send a small task. A setup link alone is not proof that the agent received the message; confirm a useful reply.
Before you connect
Separate conversation access from task permissions.
The connected surface routes to a selected agent. Review the binding in the dashboard when changing who should answer.
What to configure
- The correct Slack workspace and authorized app installation.
- The selected agent and the tools or credentials its task requires.
- Model and runtime charges under your AgentSky usage plan.
What not to assume
- Installing a channel does not authorize unrelated third-party accounts.
- Do not assume arbitrary Slack messages can switch the selected agent.
- Do not post API keys or other secrets into the conversation.
Common questions
Slack setup questions
Does the channel give my agent access to all Slack data?
No. A conversation channel and a data connector are different capabilities. Review the permissions shown during installation and configure additional application access only when the task requires it.
What if the connection window does not open?
The connection control provides an Open the setup link fallback when the browser blocks the new window. Complete authorization there, then verify a reply in Slack.
Does connecting Slack make agent usage free?
Channel setup does not change model and runtime billing. Check AgentSky pricing and your account balance before running work.
